On Friday, May 30 Buildit accelerator officially opened its office space for public. Visitors of the event were able to have an insight in the accelerator and got introduced to the four teams currently working in the program.

Buildit is the first accelerator in the Baltic States and Nordic countries with focus on physical devices. Hardware startups from all world are welcome to apply to a 3+1 month program that provides great mentors, contacts, free prototyping facilities & tools, up to 15 000 € investment and free office space.

“The growth of hardware startups is tremendous – hardware is the new software. We are bringing hardware startup movement in new level and prove that this can be done just as good in here, Estonia. For the first batch we attracted teams from 21 different which shows the potential of this field.” A.Tonnnisson, Buildit CEO

In it’s first batch Buildit has 4 teams working on ideas created for better and smarter living:
vumbl is a discrete device worn on the neck. Like a sixth sense, vumbl intuitively guides people to where they need to be, using touch. vumbl delivers considerable value beyond navigation, by which it will make navigation possible without using destructing screens(phones, watches etc.).
The KOLOS wheel, is the first of its kind table-top gaming wheel that uses 9.7" iPad’s built-in sensors for a more convenient, fun and realistic experience with nearly 500 iOS gamess on iPads.
Heimdallr Tags can be attached to things like bicycles or wallets to track them. Tags will interact with each other as well as other smart devices near them, extending the range with each device, creating a smart network over a large area like a city.
Mustino is a small device which enables physical communication over distance and let you holding hand with your loved one – anywhere.

The new applications for the second batch opening in September will be open soon and are inviting to apply teams with hardware ideas. More information on accelerator, mentoring process and applications can be found in builditaccelerator.com – Buildit official webpage.
